This house is located on a gentle bend in the road. The two fine traditional farmhouses standing at the next corner along this road inspired the concept for this house. The simple overall form and openings to the front facade mimic the existing farmhouses. However, large windows are provided to the south and west facing gables to ensure that plenty of natural light makes its way into all the living spaces (even on a the dullest of days) while catching the ever-changing views over to the Maamturk mountains.
The living area is a few steps higher than the main open plan kitchen / dining / living space making it easier to catch the best of the views while responding to the topography of the site.
